Brief Description:  Install ELT Bracket

Vans sells an optional mounting bracket that can be riveted on the sidewalls of the aft fuselage to hold either an ELT (emergency locator transmitter) or a strobe power supply. Since i went with Aeroled's in lieu of whelen strobes I wont need to find a place to store the massive strobe box. However i did think this bracket would be handy for securing the ELT.

The bracket is pre punched and sized, so all there is to do is match drill some holes in the stringers and pop rivet this baby in place; as well as install the nut plates and debur all the edges of course.

The ELT uses the four inner nutplates and the strobe power supply uses the outer four nutplates. I installed all eight, just in case I need them.

Vans offers an optional left and right version. I opted for the right, however seeing how close this is to my transponder antenna location i might just as well install the right bracket now too, just in case there is interference in the future.
