Whew! Finished riveting the horizontal stab this morning and my bucking fingers are stiff.
The most fun was laying in the rear spar and clecoing it together, everyhing stiffens up and becomes straight as an arrow. I cleaned the interior ribs and skins with an acetone rag before closing it up; just to get any grease or fingerprints off. I used my hand squeezer for the rivets along the aft edges of the rear spar and this produced some nice looking rivets. I'm sure the neighbors appreciated that too.
I used a file to knock down the burs on the perimeter of the skins when it was all finished.
Drilled the 5/8" hole through the front spar for the manual trim cable ( I decided on manual elevator and aileron trim and electric flaps.)
I also replaced a couple of the rivets on the inboard of the front spar that i wasn't real proud of.
On to the Vert. Stab! (Better order the wings; I got about 5-1/2 months til the newborn comes and this project gets put on the back burner....)
