Brief Description:  Bleed the Brakes

Today I bled the brake system, I figure this will be about a 10 minute job from here on out but figuring it out this first time without any helpers or the proper tools was a bear. Tried to fabricate a little pressure pot from a pickle jar and some leftover fittings but that was a flop. The lid to the particular jar i chose didnt have enough thread engangement on the lid. The top popped off before there was enough pressure. I think a regular canning jar lid with some threads would work fine.

The brakes are bled from the bottom up. You push fluid up through the zert near each wheel brake through the tubing and into the expansion tank on the firewall. I ended up using a regular hand pump oil squirter and a rubber tube to pump the system full. The pedals are nice and firm now with only aobut 1/2" depression. My parking brake works too.

I think im going to by the pump that is made for this task and hit this one more time. I would also like to connect a tube to the overflow on the firewall and route it to an empty jar so that i can literally run some fluid through the system under pressure to assure all the air bubbles are out.
