Brief Description:  Exhaust Hangers

Today i finalized the installation of the Vetterman dual crossover exhaust w. mufflers. The system consists of four header pipes each of which connect directly to the exhaust port of each cylinder and get torqued to 180-200 in-lbs. The four pipes collect into two where the two aft tailpipe and mufflers connect. With the mufflers it is a pretty tight fit, especially on the -A models where you are contentending with the nose gear engine mount botls. The dual pipes exit through the cowling. I probably spent two hours over the past couple weeks fenagling with these pipes to try and get them looking symetrical where they exit.

Finally i liked the fit so i drilled the 1/4" hole through the fore and aft sections where the pipe clamp penetrates and fastens. Next I went to work on the Stainles steel exhaust braces. Each pipe exsiting the cowl has two braces. One is ran vertical to the bottom of the oil sump bolts, and I ran the second brace horixontally to the outboard engine mount brace. Some hose clamps and a rubber radiator type hose acts as a damper midspan of the stainless supports. Once this was finished the pipes are very secure.

Again this was one of those tasks that had little more instruction than "install the exhaust" so thanks to all those good builders logs out there. Oh yeah, the bottom cowl goes on and off about 25 times in this process.... glad this step is done!
