The cowl is supplied with a seperate fiberglass, pre-molded lid for the oild door. I cut the opening in the cowl for the lid, and the carefully sanded in a recess around the lid so it will lay flush. I actually sanded through in a couple corners, so a layed up a couple layers of fiberglass on the inside of the cowl as a backing to the perimter of the oil door.
The fiberglass door is a bit flimsy itself, so i used the piece that i removed as a backer plate, scuffed and epoxied it to the fiberglass door.
So far it is a good fit. Next on this will be the hinge and latch mechanism.
Oil door cutout removed and edges recessed for lid
epoxied the cutout portion to the back of the fiberglass lid for extra strength
