Brief Description:  Static Ports

Installed static ports. Vans plans calls for a cheesy static port setup that consists of hooking up a tube to the backside fo a drilled out pop rivet - or something to that effect. Actually didnt even study it. I purchased a static port kit from Safeair 1 that incudes two fabricated aluminum ports and all the fittings and tube to run the lines to the backside of the instrument panel.

I drilled 1/4" holes in each side of the fues in the exact location where the plans indicate. This required that i trim about 1/4" off the flange of the backside of the ports due to their proximity of the adjacent bulkhead flanges. I didn't want the ports to be sitting cock eyed as they penetrated the fuse. The outside of the port sits proud of the skin just slightly (per plan)

I installed the 90 degree fitting and tightened it down to the ports before fastening in place. I used pro-seal to adhere the port flanges to the inside of the fuselage skin.

This is a duel port system, which is good if one gets blocked.
