Brief Description:  Step Kit Holes

Because I am building a tri gear i am also going to install the optional fuselage steps.

Tonight i drilled the two holes and scalloped the two ribs for on each side of the fuse for install of the steps. Drilling the two holes for each step was relatively simple (with a hole saw and extension on my cordless) because there is a pre-punched pilot hole at the proper location. The steel pipe of the step support also passes through the flanges of a floor rib on the fuselage. In the process of the Standard built fuse these ribs are obviously coped / scalloped priore to riveting in place. But in this situation you must cope them with very little access. I did so with a stone wheel on a die grinder, followed by some work with the dremel. It came out fine.

All the edges of the ribs and skins were polished up with the scotchbrite wheel on the dremel and now were ready drill rivet holes in the step and shape their flanges.
