Brief Description:  Flaps Done!

Today i finished construction of bot flaps, which entailed riveting the the top and bottom skins in place as well as the trailing edges. This went rather slowly because each step requires that the flap, or skin, be weighted to the table, which flattens it out, otherwise all the stresses tend to warp the structure. Weighting each step requires positioning of the part and the weights. The top skins were all flush riveted while the bottoms were blind rivets. The trailing edge was the same as the rudder, elevator and ailerons - no pro-seal required. The flaps came out very good. Near as i can tell the right flap has less than 1/16" twist and the left about 1/8". - must be the table, cause i weghted these down throughout each step of the way.

I also mounted the flaps to the wing structure using castelllated nuts and cotter pins for the first time. I torqued these to the lower end of the spectrum for AN3- bolts at about 21 inch pounds,
