Brief Description:  Preparing Wing Ribs

After riveting the rear spar i went to town on deburring the last of the ribs left over from yesterday; using the scotch brite wheel on the drill press to do the lightening holes and edges. I did the "J" stiffener notches by hand with a scotch brite pad. I switched out to a soft wheel and smoothed the leading edges of the nose ribs real good. All my deburring on the ribs yesterday and today with the drill press was done in the back yard...otherwise my garage would have been covered in dust.

Next I drilled the two option conduit holes in all the ribs. I made a jig to position the 3/4" dia. hole consistently in each rib. The 5/8" dia. hole was simply enalrging the existing tooling hole. The ribs already come with a hole in the respective ribs for the pitot tube. I did my holes with a unibit (stepdrill) on my drill press. Deburred both sides of all holes.

After deburring and drilling I started in on fluting the ribs. Fluting alway "seems" like it's going to be a pain.... but i've found that it goes relatively quick.

The ribs are ready.... (get the BBQ Sauce!)

(The nose ribs for the fuel tanks are missing because I am having Evan Johnson up in Reading, CA build my fuel tanks. He sells a few different products and aparently specializes in building tanks. When i saw his add on the web i thought this would be a huge adavantage to invest a little here, and save a little time. Building the fuel tanks can be messy job with all the pro-seal... im opting for a professioanal job here. :)
