Brief Description:  Start Wing - C'Sink Fuel Tank Plate Nuts

Tonight i set up a jig which enabled me to stand the main (front) wing spars vertical. The first step of the wing is to install the plate nuts for fastening the (future) fuel tanks to. There are 63 total K1100-08 plate nuts for this purpose. The plans assume you're a "big-boy" now and simply state "install fuel tank attach plate nuts" - So, I final drilled the pre-drilled holes to #40, and countersunk the plate nut attach holes to receive the AN426AD3-4 rivets. I also deburred the opposite side of the holes.

The main (front) wing spars come partially assembled and "Anodized" from the factory. At about step #8 in the wing construction plans it indicates to prime the countersink holes for the #8 screws where the fuel tank will attach...... So, I am assuming anywhere the anodized finish is compromised, (be it mostly from countersinking) I should fall back and Prime the bare aluminum.

So, next I used my alodine pen to alodine the countersinks and prepared a tiny batch of akzo-noble epoxy primer. I applied the primer to the countersinks using a Q-tip. Tomorrow it will be ready for riveting the plate nuts in place.
