Brief Description:  Trim Tab (Finally!)

Finally made it over the hump with the trim tab. (5 Skins Later) The first one i screwed up by putting dents in it with the clamps, on the second one the wood backup support inside slid, creating a more rounded corner than sharp corner. The third was damaged in shipping, since they take a week to get i orderd two more. The fourth was acceptable... and the fifth, well it's about perfect!

The key here was the oak clamping jig i fabricated, and more importantly, the large portion of this was slightly shorter than the small wedge, so as not to overlap on an unsupported part of the skin. Equally as important was to trim the wedge short, so it comes to a blunt end, filling the inside radius of the trim tab skin.

A couple things i did differently from the plans was to rivet on the control horn AFTER bending the ends of the trim tap, it would be a major pain trying to clamp the skin properly with the horn rivets inside there. Secondly, i didn't drill the holes in the overlapping ends until the spar was clecod into place, creating the exact overlap of the two flanges that was needed

There are tow foam ribs that get pro-sealed to the interior of the skin as supports. The tab is finished and the pro seal is curing. last step will be to rivet the hing to the elevator side and install the tab on the hinge pin. The interior parts of the trim tab were primed.
