Brief Description:  Elevator Prep

Fit all the stiffeners to the left elevator, trimmed the appropirate stiffeners around the notch for the trim tab. Match drilled and deburred the Left Elevator. Finished dimpling all the stiffener ribs with the pneumatic dimpler. Dimpled all stiffener holes in both the left and right skins on the C frame dimpler. I reversed the male/female dimples from normal and had to guide the male dimple through the top of the skin for each hole, this allowed me slide the tight skin over the edge of the table. (I protected the edge and underside of the table with a towel - I also put some scotch tape over the female dimple which alowed me to slide the skin across it without scratching the skin.)

I also fit, and match drilled the E-615-PP plate to the left elevator, match drilled and dimpled. This creates the opening where the linkage for the trim tab exits the elevator to go into the trim tab. I dimple the holes in this plate to accept the platenuts (#6 in center) and went ahead of the plans and riveted the plate nuts to this piece. (the plate nuts were dimpled too) I ad all appropriate dimples for this task from my avery tool kit. The pneumatic dimpler made quick work of it as well. Complete part as picture below took about 15 minutes.

Took a file and scothcbrite to the skin edges to knock the burs down. Both skins and all stiffeners are all prepped - ready to start on the elevator skeletons.
