Today I fabricated the steel brackets that attach the rudder control cables to the pedals. The plans call for them to be straight but I put joggles (aviation term for "bends") in them so the cables would run thru the center of the frame holes to cut down on wear. The bare chrome-moly steel is a little rusty from sitting around so I will sand blast and epoxy primer them before final installation. I set the rudder to neutral, clamped a piece of wood across the pedals and marked the holes in the brackets for drilling. I'm pretty satisfied with how they turned out. Next up will be mounting and drilling the elevators. Yee-haw. It's cool to be doing something other that laying out rivet patterns and drilling holes for a change.
