Brief Description:  Elevators - drilling the center hinge bolt holes

Aligned the right elevator "in trail" to the horizontal stabilizer and secured in position with a clamp at the counter weight. Used a drill busing fabricated by Mark deLevie per Van's specifications (1/4" outer diameter, 3/32" inner diameter) inserted into the VA-146 hinge bearing to drill a pilot hole in the right elevator control horn. Then removed the right elevator from the horizontal stabilizer and final drilled the hole to 1/4". Used the specified bolt to ensure a correct fit. As this drilled hole exposed the steel under the powder coat o the control horn, I used yellow zinc chromate spray to cover the exposed steel and prevent corrosion. Repeated these steps for the left elevator.
