Brief Description:  Left Wing Assembly

"I finished attaching and cleaning the last gussets to the 1 to 4 ribs. I rivetted the root rib to the bottom and top attach angles. I clecoed the rear spar to the ribs upright vertical onthe saw horses. I levelled the saw horse and checked the alignment.

Once all was true I commenced rivetting the ribs to the main spar. I then proceeded to the rear spar and rivetted these as well. I only had trouble with the root rib attach, tightening the bolts for final fit. I removed a couple of the rivets attaching for the face of the rib bracket so I could fit the sockets over the bolts. Once this was done it was easy to tighten the bolts and then replace the drilled out rivets.

I had a break and then came back on located the aft upper skin and place this in position on the skeleton frame wing that was now assembled. I clamped into place as per the instruction vertically clamped to the saw horses as well for stability. After much adjusting and checking of the ribs centrelines through the pilot holes I commenced drilling. It was fairly easy to align the ribs lines with the holes and I completed the upper skin in about 2 hours. I also located the rib 9 aileron crank assemlby and made holes for these through the skin which were not piloted due to it being a custom made piece from the plans with my hole positioning. So it was a productive day and not intimidating like it seemed months ago and from looking at other peoples project pictures.

I located the lower aft skin and positioned it ready for clecoing and drilling at a later date. Good progress!!"
