"I am upto the final 2 flight controls now. I have built the right hand ruddervator and it went relatively smoothly. It is similar to the other flight controls with one drive horn requiring a 15 degree bend.
To bend this piece I just clamped it down to the worktable and then used 2 sets of plumbing wrenches to bend it. i protected the pincer grip with a couple of scrap aluminium pieces to prevent marking. I then just put some weight down on the piece to get the required bend within a degree. I probablyshould have allowed for a bit more or a bend radius off the table edge but I think it is satisfactory. I am sure the left one will be easier as long as they are balanced and symmetrical.
I drilled the ribs in place and also the drive horn rib ad attached to the drive horn itself. The hinge has been drilled.
The left rudervator fabrication is complete bar the priming."
