Brief Description:  Joining fuselages

Today I joined up the front side panels to the rear fusealge box. I clecoed this in place along the vetical formers. I laid on the rear bottom fuelage skin and clecoed inplace. I clecoed the lower front fuselage skin to the rear fuselage in the cnc cut holes.

I then measured up after leveling the fuselage the 32 inch width of the upper crosstie. I lined up the lower cross tie to give the correct alignment with the lower skin.

After checking all measurements and having clamped all pieces together. I commenced drilling to No.40 size holes as per the pre cut pilot holes. I clecoed these holes that were made in the lower forward longerons. I drilled through the lower cross tie and clecoed.

I then did the fiddly job of lining up the upper cross ties and then had to round off further slightly the ends of this piece to form better with the inside of the engine mounts and angle piece curvatures. This was a simple process. I then measured up the required 32 inches as per plans clamped and the drill through the motor mount pilot holes No.30 holes through the crosstie and clecoed.

So the basic fuelage is holding together in the clecoed arrangement. I need to next drill the remaining holes not done yet and then drill the splice plates at the fuselage joins and also the crosstie mounts.
