A canadian builder melted down lead sinkers and poured his own balance. I did the same thing, I made a mould the correct dimensions and melted donw the lead on the kitchen stove (the wife was away) using a cheap saucepan fromlocal shop. It took a while to melt but melt it did. Lead m,elts at about 365 C) I poured a test mould and it was OK but I melted it down again and made the 2 balances required. They look ok, i tidied up the edges while they were cooling and they are good to be drilled and construct the counterbalances.
I did a bit more work onthe ailerons and the hinges ready for drilling. Had to go to San francisco so more when I get back.
I have now drilled the lead to fit the balances awaiting to be assembled and rivetted."
