Cut out a blank for the gauge insert. I used .08 aluminum instead of .06 as I will be machining a step into the outer edge of the panel so that it overlaps the main panel by about .05. This will insure a tight fit with no gaps between the edges of the insert and main panel.
I milled one end and the bottom of the insert including the step then put it into the CNC mill to cut the curve on the top and gauge cutouts.
Finally put it back into the manual mill to finish it to length.
