Brief Description:  Begin to set up float rigging jig table

While setting up the floats is not that complicated with lots of information available it is more complex than I can go into here. Suffice it to say that the airframe needs to held in place above the floats and that there are several issues to address in locating it. Basicly the airframe needs to be high enough above the floats to provide adequate propeller clearance to the water, the angle of attach of the wing needs to be located to floats so that the wing can generate lift while the floats are planing and the CG of the aircraft needs to be correctly located relative to the float step so that the plane can get over the hump from plowing to planing.

I used the same jig table that we built the floats on as a reference and I measured out the location of the aircraft datum, the firewall, a centerline, the aft CG allowed, the float spreader bar locations and the location of the float step on this table.
