Brief Description: Starter and Shroud Installation
I arrived at CC#19 and uncrated the engine. The engine looked beautiful and I received a lot of questions and compliments on it. I then removed the plugs and shipping valve covers for replacement w/ mine coming with WW to the college. I attempted to install the starter and WW reviewed the process with me. I had to align the stater gear w/ the ring gear and adjust the backlash using a 1/16" drill bit for spacing. Once that was done I drilled into the starter ear to lock in the height adjustment. I then had to fabricate from angle the rear starter mount. I was able to fabricate the rear start with the gracious help of Cal, a member of the CC crew who permitted me to use his band saw and belt sander locate in his T-hangar. I then went into Barnswell to purchase some 1/4, 5/16 and 3/8 course thread hardware (all 3/4" in length). I then installed the left & right side rear case shrouds.
