While taking the engine out of the car I took the liberty to drain the engine case oil - which looked OK - not "cottage cheese" like. This was a good sign as to the overall engine condition.
I then removed the oil filter, 2x carburetors, coil, alternator and belts and the top shroud cover. This is when I discovered that some animal(s) used the engine as a home - I found two walnuts and a large amount of hay/grass.
I continued with the teardown and removed the distributor, oil cooler, L/H and R/H bottom heat ducts, damper doors, rear cover skid plate, L/H and R/H cooling baffle ends and R/H exhaust log.
