I was concerned about my "ring test" results. While this is hardly a scientific test is does give an easy to perform indication as to the overall health of the crank. I didn't want to send the crank to Moldex only to find it wasn't safe so I took a day off from work to deliver the crank and 6 pistons w/ connecting rods to a local "old School" speed shop for a magniflux inspection. I also had them remove the pistons from the connecting rods.
As it turns out, the crank was found to have a hairline crack. So the simple test was accurate after all. I contacted Paul and he replaced the crank with a good one so all was right once again.
