Brief Description:  Continue to deburr and dimple Elevators

Today I began by dimpling the elevator skin (right side) . I was able to dimple most of it with my DRDT-2 Dimpler, but could not do the center 8 or 10 holes without creasing the skin. My answer to this was the fabricate 2 wood blocks. I cut them to size then drilled a hole to accept a dimple die in each piece (male and female). I then positioned them in the part of the skin I could not reach with the DRDT-2 and lined them up with a hole. A slight wack with a hammer produced a perfect dimple. On the bottom edge of the elevator skins, the area where the skins attached to the spar is done with blind rivets. Those holes needed to be drilled out to #30 instead of #40. I did, however manage to use solid rivets at about 5 holes near each hinge access points. I also drilled for solid rivets at the ends, where I will be able to reach with my rivet sqeezer. I then deburred and dimpled for the next few hours. The trim tab spar and the small spar it attached to are dimpled on the bottom and countersunk on the top. This is to allow a smooth surface for the hingle to rest on when that is riveted to the spars. Makes sense and I'm sure a lot of builder's miss this and end up having to redo it.
