Brief Description:  Prep the shop floor for painting

I'm not going to add these hours to my actual building time, but I wanted to record the work that I have put into the shop.To this point, I have accumilated all my tools and have built 3 benches. I am using our 3 car garage as the shop and have been planning it out over the last several months. I built a wall to close off an area of 8' x 10' at the front corner of the garage along the single overhead door. This area is where we are storing the common garage stuff (lawn mower, snow blower, and Wendy's gardening stuff). The only access will be from the outside of the single overhead door. The other 3/4 + the garage will be the shop. I've decided to paint the floor of the shop a bright yellow. I am using Behr epoxy floor system paint from Home depot. I have totally cleared out the shop area and began the floor preparation. First I powerwashed the entire floor. I then used a cleaner/degreaser to further clean the concrete. I brushed it in and them rinsed with the power washer. The next step was to Etch the surface with an Etch/rust stain remover. This product (also by Behr) goes on the floor diluted with water. After 10-15 minutes I scrubbed it in and rinse it off with the power washer. I had to were protective clothing and goggles, as this shit has an acid base. After a couple more rinses with the power washer, I let the floor dry. Then next step was to mask off the base molding around the entire perimeter of the shop with 3" blue painters tape. Once that was done and the floor was completely dry, I applied the primer. This primer had the considency of milk and dried clear. I will have to wait untill tomorrow before can apply the first coat of color.
