Brief Description:  Flap Support Tube

Finished welding inboard torque tube bearing and cleaned slag from supports. I set up the bearing/flap support as described in Eric's manual. The blue line in the first photo shows the chalkline for the spar. You can't see under the torque tube another blue line representing the center line of the torque tube the 3 1/2" from the spar line. Center of flap support tube to center of torque tube bearing should be 15/16". I tied a piece of 1/8"x 1/2" steel between the two to get the spacing right (3/8+7/16+1/8 = 15/16). That is what the string in the first picture is holding. Picture 2 show a mark made 3/8" (1/2 of 3/4") from the torque tube center line. This mark is where the outside of the torque tube should be aligned (there was also another mark at the flap support 3/8" from the line and the support was marked 3 1/2" back from the spar line. With all three marks lined up and the torque tube itself level the tack welds were made and the system rechecked. Torque tube spins freely and the final welds made.
