Brief Description: Minor Wiring / Master Relay Install
Started the wiring work. Had to re-study the diagrams plus the labels on the wires I've installed thus far.
Installed the ground lead for the fuel level probe. I think I'm going to install the level electronics box on the fuselage side wall using AN3 hardware.
I had decided late-to-need that I would install a master relay. Unfortunately, the best spot to install this is close to the battery on the upper firewall. Unfortunate because the fuel tank is already installed, so ya just can't waltz in there with hardware. I fabricated a stand-off using .032 stock. Bent a channel in it and riveted that to the upper firewall (was careful not to puncture the tank while drilling). I then used AN3 hardware to fasten the relay to the channel. The channel allows a wrench to slide in to grasp the nut.
In order to check placement, I dug out the starter motor and the accessory plate. It looks like I will either have to invert the plate or rework the battery box to allow a slide-out-to-the-side battery, since the starter is going to interfere. Of course, I could always remove the starter (only two cap screws) to gain access to the battery, but the slide-out design may be best.
