Brief Description:  RePaint Panel; Added Speed Nuts for ELT Remote

Found a paint I liked that was marketed for automobile panels. It's a slightly-textured, very light metallic black. Gave it the first coat.

I was also unhappy with the mounting for the ELT remote. The remote contains a battery that is supposed to be replaced every 4 years. As designed, the builder is supposed to use nylock nuts on the back of the panel. Well, given the access issues with the Sonex panel, I decided to improvise.

I obtained some flat ""speed nuts"" that are geared for automotive application in a low-strength situation, which is certainly the case with the ELT remote.

I had to use the ScotchBrite wheel to shave down one side of the ""nuts"" due to the proximity of the mounting holes to the opening thru with the remote must fit. I then mixed up a batch of JB Weld and used that to attach all 4 clips to the back of the panel. After 24 hours, I don't think they're going anywhere!
