Yesterday I mounted and torqued the rudder pedal phenolic blocks to the fuselage. The pedals would swing fairly easily, but I still felt they were binding a bit.
Today I removed the pedals, wiped off the grease, and sanded the phenolic blocks just a bit. Re-greased, re-installed, and torqued the bolts securing them to the fuselage angles. Very nice swing feel now, without looseness.
Fabricated the ends on the 2nd rudder pedal spring and installed as shown in picture 1 below. I wasn't happy with the looseness of the left spring which I made last night, so I removed it and re-bent the loop where it attaches to the fuselage. Also removed a few loops of spring and re-bent the end loop where it attaches to the rudder pedals. This took quite a bit of trial and error fit, but now there is consistent spring pressure and the pedals come to rest in an even alignment.
I then worked the flap handle. I cut the 1" stock to length, bent the 25 degree angle, and positioned it in place for drilling. At first, I was trying to match the plans view, which had the forward edge of the handle aligned with the forward edge of the angle mounted to the flap control tube (black in the pic below). This had the handle offset from center. I then positioned the handle on the inside of the attach angle and noticed that when it's aligned with the back side of the angle, it lines up on the centerline. Re-clamped in place. Drilled 1/8" pilot holes using the attach angle as reference. Then up-drilled to 3/16" for AN3 hardware. Took another look at the plans and noticed that this is supposed to have AN4 HW, so I got out the drill and up-sized it. Removed, deburred, and bolted into place.
Spent some time reviewing the plans sheets. Crossed off some more that were completed (C02 /C04). Dug out parts for the C05 dual-stick control yoke assembly.
