Brief Description:  Seat Belt Attach Assy Installation

Awkward drilling tonight because the seat belt attach assy is about 6" forward of the aft fuse lower crosstie, so not much room; had to use the 90 deg angle drill.

Pilot drilled the "tabs" of the seat belt attach assy to the fuselage side angles (1/8" thick). Next, as per plans, pilot drilled the left and right lower gussets and the spacers that go between the gussets and the angle of the attach assy to match the thickness of the longeron on the other side (pic 1 below).

Lastly, spent quite a bit of time installing the angle cap / seat hinge assy to the attach assy. First, had to center the cap left-to-right between the fuselage sides, clamp it, then drill 3 pilot holes on each side into an angle piece previously installed on the fuse side panels (these are the 3 closely-spaced cleco's in the lower center of the 2nd pic below).

Next, had to pilot drill the cap assy to the attach assy. You would think that the cap assy, being 1/8" alum angle, would be straight. I guess notching it out for the elevator control rod and riveting the hinge to it took it slightly out of straight. I thought it was odd that the plans said to ensure the cap is straight (otherwise the seat pan hinges wouldn't line up with the cap assy hinge).

Sure enough, I put a level on the cap after each end was cleco'd into position, and there was a bow to it. Slight, but enough to result in some of the holes being 3/64ths lower than they should have been. Leveled the cap, clamped in position, and pilot drilled the holes.
