I hate working with stainless steel.
Was going to work on the plane last night, since it's been a sparse week, Sonex-wise. Going out to the garage, I noticed that an 8" diameter limb had fallen off one of our elm trees, and had crushed our chain link fence in the backyard. So, instead of playing A&P, I played lumberjack. :-(
Tonight, the *entire* time was spent drilling 20 holes in the upper firewall. This stuff is awful to drill. Just have to take it slow and use pressure.
Still have to pilot drill the center two holes - these need to have some flutes smoothed out, so I bypassed for tonight. Also have to locate & drill the SouthCo rivet holes in the windshield strap, then transfer those into (!) the upper firewall.
Then, once I locate & pilot drill the filler box to the firewall (ANOTHER 19 s/s drilled holes!) I'll be done. At this pace, with the frustrtion of drilling it, I *might* be done by AirVenture with the upper firewall.....
