Brief Description:  Wiring the wings

Simple jobs often turn out to be a bit more complex.

When I assembled my wings, I ran some flexible vinyl conduit thru the forward rib holes in which to run wires for the landing lights, strobes, and nav/pos lights.

I used some safety wire to run thru the conduit as a fish tape, to which I taped the wires I wanted to pull into the conduit. This worked well for the right wing; since there's no landing light in that wing, it's a straight shot from one end to the other. That went quickly.

The left wing has the conduit bend in the wing two bays from the wingtip to go around the landing light. Yet the fish tape/safety wire would not go thru it. I got about 2/3rds of the way in, and it just wouldn't go any further. Tried from the other end; still no joy. Straightened out all the kinks, did it carefully; still no joy. Finally I decided to look into the wing.

Ahem. When I ran the conduit, I had some extra length of the tubing; when it was dragging on the ground with the wings in the cradle, I had pushed it back into the wing. It formed a loop inside the 4th bay of the wing; the fish tape just couldn't go thru it. Pulled the slack out, trimmed it, and all was well.

Crimped the molex connectors on one end. By now it was time for Thanksgiving dinner, so I called it quits
