Brief Description:  Aft Spart Tunnel; Flap Control Rod; Brake Cable

Received new rivets (CCC-44) yesterday to allow completion of the aft spar tunnel.

Cleco'd and riveted over one hundred rivets to secure the support angle and two vertical angles to the skin of the aft tunnel. Messed up on some of the upper rivets on the vertical angles, so had to drill them out and replace; I had not supported the top edge of the angles when riveting, so they were an overall loose fit. Now fixed.

Since the spar tunnel is a tight fit, I filed the inner surface to ensure that no rivet edges would catch on the spar as it was inserted. Buffed it all with scotchrite. Installed into fuselage with cleco's. Had to check the fit of several pieces to ensure that the miniscule shifts due to cleco's in the rivet holes didn't prevent alignment of the spar pins. Because this is a tight-fit area, had to make some slight adjustments.

Next, I finished installing the flap control rod and brake control handles; these were previously installed, but had to be removed to rig the wings.

Next, I was going to begin routing the brake cable; the plans don't call for it, but I wanted to install rubber grommets in the firewall holes thru which the brake cables passed. I only had two of the size required, and of course chewed one up during installation. Off to Lowe's for some more.
