Brief Description:  Left Wing LE Skin Fitment

When I removed the right wing LE skin from the shipping box, I noticed to "smiles" dings, whatever you wanna call 'em on the upper leading edge of the left skin. Sonex suggested that they could be minimized by burnishing them with a curved piece of metal or wood.

Tonight I used the "tablespoon" method where you put something soft but firm under the area to be worked, then roll the bowl of a tablespoon over the area while applying moderate pressure. I used a section of 1.25" SCH 40 PVC pipe, which was close to the radius of the bend underneath. I applied the spoon on both the upper and lower surfaces, and it came out quite passable. At the end of the night when I had applied some bend to the skin as shown in Image 3 below, it's even less noticable. This is the 2nd time I've used this method, and it works quite well.

Once the dings were minimized, I cleco'd the LE skin to the main spar, then began drilling pilot holes into the forward ribs. Had to remove some of the cleco's on the aft ribs in order to trial-fit the left wing root doubler around the root rib.

Up-drilled the main spar holes to #30 to free up some #40 cleco's.

Flipped over the wing, and used ratchet straps to apply some tension, more to keep the almost-vertical LE skin section from flapping about in the wind when the garage door is open.
