Brief Description:  Left Wing Rib Attachment

Positioned and pilot drilled rib spacer lengths to fit between the spar caps, providing a level surface on which to mount the aft ribs. Cleco'd aft ribs into position on left wing spar.

Leveled the spar on the saw horses, and bolted the squaring jig into position. Measured out 19" from wing station 0,0 that is used to align with the center of the aft spar attachment hole to ensure the wing is square. This must be done before the root rib is fitted.

Fitted the root rib. Removed rib #1 to allow room for the right angle drill attachment to drill pilot holes in the aft spar attach angle and main spar attach angles. Then, when I went to position the #1 rib back into position, it wanted to bow as if the space for it had shrunk. What?!? When I released the cleco's holding the root rib into position, the end of the spar moved upward 1/16", which of course now resulted in the rivet holes being offset too much to correct (had already up-drilled them to #30. Decided to just order a new aft rib. Cannabalized the #12 rib to fabricate a new aft root rib. *sigh*

Cut the new root rib down to size (9/16" off the aft, 3/8" off the front). Cut the spar clearance notches. Fabricated new gussets.

Positioned the new root rib into position. Left the #1 rib in place and placed the rib behind the aft spar attach angle just for initial fitting and one rivet hole, since everything was already at #30.
