Brief Description:  Left Root Rib Details / Left Fwd Rib Rework

Made patterns of root rib gussets SNX-W17-06 / -07/ -08/ -09 from plans sheet SNX-W17. Traced onto paper, then using rubber glue, secured the patterns to previously cut trimmed channel stock. Trimmed to size on the bandsaw, then drilled pilot holes. Remainder of the pilot holes will be drilled once the rib is fitted to the root rib attachment angle, AFTER the ribs are cleco'd to the main spar and aft spar.

Trimmed the fwd / aft root rib blanks. 9/16" is removed from the rear of the aft rib, and 3/8" is trimmed from the main spar flange of both the aft and fwd rib blanks. Deburred the cuts. Fitted previously fabricated gussets to the root rib halves. Almost messed up. On the right wing, the gussets go inside of the rib flange; on the left wing, they go on the outside of the flange. Riveted all 4 gussets to the root ribs.

Riveted 4 gussets (2 each rib) to reworked fwd ribs 1 & 4. This completes the rework on the 2 ribs I messed up back in the summer.

Next up is the aft rib #9 subassembly to attach the aileron bellcrank and associated vertical stiffener channel stock. These are cut to size, but not drilled.

After the completion of rib #9, then the ribs are cleco'd to the main spar (after squaring and levelling), fitting the root rib, then riveting and skinning.
