Notched the aft edge of the turtledeck skins to allow room for the forward spar of the vertical stabilizer after receiving input from several other builders that this was required.
Spent quite a bit of time making sure that the vertical tail was aligned with the center line of the fuselage and that the vertical stab fwd spar aligned evenly with the horizontal stab fwd spar. Clamped in place.
Put the rudder on to check rudder deflection angles. The rudder binded right in the crux of each side on the rudder horn, so I first filed that to allow the rudder to swing unimpeded. Once that was fixed (took two tries - really took quite a bit off right next to the rudder skin), I then worked on filing the rudder horns to ensure 25 deg of travel in each direction. Still not done, but don't want to do more until the vert stab aft spar is all bolted into position just to ensure there is no unwanted bending during the alignment process. Pleased with the overall fit of the vertical stab to the fuselage. Nice tight gaps.
