Brief Description:  punchlist hard stuff

Yesterday was extrememly frustrating. One of those "if I can't get this stupid clip installed, I might as well junk the project" type days. Didn't even bother making a log entry.

Today was hotter and more humid (storms after I got home). I thought about things overnight (yup; not much sleep) and was refreshed enough this AM I decided to make a go of it. The clips can be installed either one on top and one on the bottom of the turnbuckle, or both on one side. The lower cable had to have one on the bottom (cuz the 'groove' in the end for the clip was on the bottom), and that was the bugaboo yesterday. I realized overnight that the ends were screwed into the barrel too far, keeping the clip from seating. I backed off the end and clip popped right in. Sheesh. For the aft end of the turnbuckle, I was able to install this one from the top. Again, the end was too far into the barrel, keeping the clip from installing. However, if I backed off a turn or two on the end, that dropped the tension reading. Spec is 25 +/- 5 lbs. Conventional wisdom over the years says that you want even lighter tension on there for smooth control action. I was a bit too concerned, so I called Roger at Zenith, and he said the lower limits I was seeing were just fine.

I then did more tasks in the hellhole. I added the bungee cord which attaches to the right elevator cable to keep them separate, and I also provided some reinforcement to the comm antenna cable that had come loose.

I then spent time washing the floors of the cockpit and baggage compartment, and touching up the red paint where it had been chipped off during systems installations over the past year.
