No real work on the engine, but had it uncoverd to check clearnaces on a few areas.
I had received a tapered piston ring compressor for Christmas. It came with a gap as desired. I needed to cut the gap bigger to slip over the connecting rod, so got out my angle grinder and widened the gap. Tested on one of the old pistons.
Dug out more hardware that will be coming up soon. Tried to match against the hardwawre I had remaining in the accessory case hardware kit I got frmo Fresno Air Parts. Determined other hardware that I would need such as large castle nuts for the manifold and created an AeroPerformance order for pickup. Ordered new cylinder through bolts since the ones I had from Fresno would not fit - I have a "newer" style case.
Examined the pushrods to determine how much cleaning would be required, as well as the "cups" that fit in the end of the hydraulic lifter units.
