As soon as I placed the order for an RV-10 empennage kit I decided to reserve a custom registration number for the new airplane. The FAA allows N-number reservations for $10. The reservation has to be renewed every year until it ends up on the plane. $10 per year is the best bargain in aviation, so I went to the FAA website to confirm the number I wanted was available. I went with N530JY, which is our wedding anniversary (5/30), and initials (Jeremy and Yuka). Yuka has been very supportive of my aviation habit (addiction?) for 22+ years, so I figured it was an appropriate gesture.
