Brief Description: Whelen Combination Tail Strobe and Position Light

Finally the Whelen Combination Tail Strobe and Position Light, WEA 500AH-14, has arrived. I shopped around and found that Van’s no longer carries the unit but I found store on E-Bay called Knots 2U, Ltd, that carries the tail light combo for a very reasonable price ($158.00) cheap, first class shipping and no taxes. I have modified the fiberglass Fairing on the Rudder that it mounts using 6-32 Nutplates with stainless steel pop rivets and for reinforcement some fiberglass cloth. It was a close fit but apparently the Whelan tail light was designed for the RV-10 application. I checked the Strobe and White Light function of the Whelen unit and both worked perfectly with no strobe noise herd at all in the GMA 340 Comm Panel using the Lightspeed Headset. And a very bright white position tail light could be seen. Now, all the lights are completed except for the interior Pilot/Co-pilot overhead lights (I have already run the supply wires) and I have a good idea on what to purchase.
Time about 6 hours because I had to add some fiberglass (waiting for it to dry and sand) to the fairing.
