Aug 1 to 5th 2012

Installed a Garmin SL-40 radio transceiver in the “stack”. I tested the SL-40 Transmit capability on Perry 122.7 UNICOM and the Receive on the AWOS station. All went OK on the installation except that the Co-pilot Microphone need to be wire correctly. (Swap the Mic Transmit wire around). Also, since it was too long over 12 inches I had to move down in the stack the Garmin 327 transponder about 1 inch and place the SL-40 1 /4” above this but this leaves 2.65 inches for a Garmin 430 just below the GMA 340 comm. Turned out just fine but added 3.5 hours to the process because of the Heat on Saturday. Air-techis located at the Orlando Executive Airport in Orlando, Florida and is in the process of assembling my IO-540 and has sent me pictures of the process. Adding the Pistons and Cylinders this coming week. Still waiting on the company the rebuilds the fuel injection system before the engine is complete.

Time about 10 hours because of the heat and working slow.
