Brief Description:  10 Hours into Flying

I am about 10 hours into test flying the project. I am pleased, and the aircraft is fast. I was seeing speeds of 197 mph with an 15 mph tail wind at 6000 ft. over Perry airport without leg and wheel fairing installed. The Garmin GDL-39, iPad and ADS-B combination is working too. Once airborne I am able to pick up the local TIS-B station and receive all kinds of good things, including the necessary inflight weather. The only minor complaint I have about the iPad is I have the fantastic "retina" screen brightness turned up fully and I still think that the screen should be brighter in full sunlight. Anyway an iPad glare screen/protector might help this situation some, but for now I am working on flying the aircraft. So far I have been correcting little "squawks" along the way. Setting the engine RPM idle, propeller low speed stop, accessory pad oil leak, fixing the oil checking door, Dynon Skyview reprogramming for proper EMS parameters.....etc. Also, Dynon finally upgraded the Skyview system software to version 5.1, and now I have the option of Data Logging of flight parameters.

The latest is that the Van's supplied 47.5" throttle cable is too short. Originally the plans called for Bendix fuel injection system, my engine arrived with Fuel Flow Fuel Injection system and the cable did reach but was chaffing on the bottom (too tight) of the engine oil/case. Anyway after the throttle was sticking in the fully closed position in the hanger I decided to replace the throttle cable with the next size larger that Vans has in there catalog that is listed as 50.5 inches. This should eliminate the too tight fit of the throttle cable to allow for smoother throttle operation. Not a big issue but the Ray-Allen LED green segmented indicator for the aileron trim tab is not operating. F.Y.I -> After the DAR signs off on your aircraft there is still work to be done before your aircraft is 100% perfect.

Time-- I stopped counting at 2200 in Jan.
