Brief Description:  Vertical tail preparation

This is about cutting holes in the rear face of the vertical tail for rudder cables, elevator horn etc.

I had some difficulty measuring the position of the holes both vertically and horizontally because of the varying thickness of the filets between the skin and the rear bulkhead.

I am hoping that the holes are actually bigger than needed so that the rudder cables and elevator horn will not interfere with the edges. If they do, I guess I am just going to have to enlarge them with a file.

I think the filet can account for 1/4" difference in the measurement. I will see eventually!

Actually cutting the holes, with my electric drill and the bi-metal hole saws I bought from McMaster-Carr, was very easy.

The picture in the build manual, shows a hole for fitting the upper rudder hinge that is covered in section 23 Rudder Hinge Installation.
