Brief Description:  compressor coffin

Having a loud oil-free type compressor, I decided to build a sound absorbing box to enclose it and keep the pax with the neighbors. It is made of MDF and particle board with 2X4 framing, and lined with heavy rubber in the upper half for sound absorption, then dense carpet underlayment foam throughout, and finally carpet, which cuts the reflected sound. A high and low air port are included, also sound proofed. A dense upper lid with layered MDF and the above accoutrements is sealed with dual rubber weather strips. A lower door allows access to the tank drain. With this box, the compressor is now a dull hum.I ran two pneumatic lines from a 'T', each with its own water trap and regulator. Being Harbor Freight cheapies, some extra teflon was needed to get good seals on the fittings. Hose reels work well (also HF).
