The canopy is latched on the left side. Part of the latch sticks out when locked, so can be reached from the outside to open. To make this, two slots had to be cut in the fuselage - a template was placed, then ends were marked and drilled, witht he slot being made with a cutoff wheel in my drill and some filing to finish it. Worked out well!!
