The Duckworks light mount has to be modified so that it fits the rib bay to be installed in. I cut the mount in half at a location that will not be directly visible thru the light lens and reattached with sections of J-Stringer material. In the past, builders have left the mounting bracket and inner surface of the skin surrounding the light in a polished/bare condition. From personal preference and from comparing to several aircraft, a dark light-hole when not in use is asthetically better looking. Plus LED's don't need any help delivering light, therefore I painted my mount black.
