Brief Description:  Private Pilot Certificate

Last year was a tough year for flying and building. I thought that getting my license in parallel with building the Searey would be reinforcing and complimentary. At least for me, it was conflicting, difficult, stressful and too much. So, last summer I decided to pause on the plane building and concentrate on my license. Last year was also a difficult year at work, with new bosses, and more time required to be successful in my "real" job. Striking that balance is really what life is all about, so I put together a plan to get my license after the new year. Today, I was successful in my Private Pilot Check Ride. I am very grateful to my family and my instructor, Robert Schulko, for being so supportive during this effort. I'd also like to extend a thank you to my examiner, who had a couple of times during the checkride where he could have busted me for being outside tolerances, or not landing quite as softly as I should have on my soft field (wasn't too bad, but not my best)... Anyway - after experiencing it, I doubt anyone has ever really "aced" their checkride...

So, after a little more down time, and some celebratory short flight with my Dad and my little helper Jonathon, I intend to get back to work on the plane in the coming months.

If you're checking my log, thanks for your interest and if you're not a pilot, at least go on an Intro to Flight ride with your local flight school. Even if you don't decide to pursue, at least you can say, "I flew and landed an airplane"...
