Finally got some good weather here in Iowa today - well, above freezing any way.
My plan for priming is to scuff up the parts a bit with Scotbrite, then clean the parts with lacquer thinner. After that, I'll use some rattle can primer (NAPA 7220) to put a couple of light coats of primer on the parts. It'll give me peace of mind and it is easy enough.
Today I got many of the HS parts scuffed and cleaned - will prime everything in a big batch. I did two test pieces (scrap) using my method above and I am happy with the results. The primer sticks nicely and does not scratch easily at all. Good enough for Iowa weather!
More tomorrow! Riveting this week!!
My "cleaning station" - near the outside doors to provide ventiliation for the thinner. 3M mask also.
