The elevators were mounted onto the horizontal stabiliser. The overlapping areas (horizontal stabiliser-to elevator horns) were marked. the elevators were removed and the stailiser skins were trimmed to provide the required clearance. Next was to trim the rear spar lower flange to allow clearance for the elevator horns, allowing full deflection of the elevators. Next thing was to align the right elevator in trail on the horizontal stabiliser, and to drill the Bolt hole from VA-146 hinge bearing-to-WD-605-1-R. After the final size hole was drilled, the procedure was reversed for the left elevator. This worked out well, as the bolt slipped through the control horns and hinge bearing.
